Northampton Borough Council Launch with Jadu eGov in Just 5 Weeks

August 1st 2005 - Northamptonshire. Former APLAWS+ pilot Northampton Borough Council have implemented Jadu eGov Content Server to power their new website in a record five weeks.

Northampton Borough Council (NBC) today announced the launch of their new eGovernment Content Management System powered by Jadu eGov Content Server.

NBC made a decision to join neighbouring authorities Kettering and Wellingborough, to implement Jadu eGov CS following several trials of other CMS systems including a full implementation of the National Projects sponsored APLAWS+ CMS.

Suraj Kika, CEO of Jadu said: "NBC had already prepared content during their previous CMS implementation, which didnt make it to go-live, so the content tasks were not as extensive as with an authority with no content pre-prepared.

This saved us days of work in planning and auditing content. We then used the Jadu Fast-track approach to pre-load the A-Z with PID referenced services [just the A-Z titles were imported], in which fresh, up-to-date content was imported..."

Clive Thomas, Northampton Borough Council corporate director for enabling Northampton said, "The redevelopment of the council's website represents a significant step forward in providing services to the residents of Northampton.

People's lifestyles have changed and council's must be able to offer access to services 24 hours a day. The Internet has become an essential communication tool for the council to reach local residents and people from further a field with information about Northampton.

The new website is a significant improvement on the previous version, it not only looks more user friendly but has significantly more information about the council."

Amazing achievement

Suraj commented on the implementation at NBC: "Northampton's eGov and web team were very reactive and put a great effort into ensuring the implementation went according to schedule - delivery of this amazing achievement is a testament to the unique partnership that Jadu eGov has delivered between private and public sector - working to achieve a common goal."

"Northampton Borough Council has worked in close partnership with Jadu, Kettering Borough Council and Wellingborough Borough Council to ensure that the citizens of Northamptonshire can enjoy a joined-up structure to the way they find information on local issues and services.

The new website represents a significant leap forward for Northampton as a community in moving towards making the councils services available electronically 24/7."

The Jadu eGov partnership now has 12 Local Authorities from Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Lancashire - all working together to deliver the Priority Service Outcomes.

"Jadu are very proud of the close collaborative relationships and culture of sharing that has emerged from the Jadu eGov partnership... The Priority Outcomes represent a significant step change in the delivery of services and shift in the culture of Local Authorities.

It's a tremendous I.T. challenge that can only be delivered through close partnership and innovative thinking."
