Kettering Borough Council finalist in SXSW Web Awards for CSS design excellence

Kettering Borough Councils website has been honoured by reaching the finals for another top international web design award, namely the SXSW Web Awards.

The 10th Annual SXSW Web Awards uncover the best new websites and celebrate those who are building and implementing tomorrow's online trends.

Hundreds and hundreds of sites from across the globe entered into the competition, with the finalists announced yesterday (02/02/07) on the SXSW website, prior to the three day SXSW Interactive Festival, which is a hotbed for new, cutting edge technology and a playground for the world's most creative web developers, designers, bloggers, innovators and entrepreneurs.

Categories in the competition range from "Art" sites, "Blogs" to "Technical Achievement", with only five finalists in each category. Kettering Borough Council's website is entered in the CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) category, which showcases sites that push the boundaries of CSS coding technology, bringing together top-notch design and content with standards compliant and accessible code.

Senior designer at Jadu, Lee Pilmore said "We're thrilled and excited! This competition is a big one, if the webby's are the online Oscars, then the SXSW Awards are the BAFTA's, or the FIFA World Player of the Year award. Very prestigious and respected. So I'm really happy our work at Jadu has been selected".

Mentioning the other finalists and the competition, he said "They're good. The world's finest! I'm amazed our work is along side them. To win would be very special."

Winners in all categories will be announced at the 10th Annual SXSW Web Awards Ceremony, presented by Adobe on Sunday 11th March, at the Hilton Hotel, Austin, Texas.

Last year Kettering's design also made it into the finals of the first ever CSS World Awards, whilst Lichfield District Council became an official Hounouree of the 2006 Webby Awards.
