Alzheimer's Society re-brands and revolutionises online presence with easy navigation

The Alzheimer's Society has launched its new brand and revolutionised its website design to specifically cater for its broad user base.

The charity has partnered with content management specialist, Jadu, to revamp its online presence, embracing web 2.0 technologies and enhancing its navigation and design.

The website represents a fundamental shift in approach to design. Time has been invested in research to find the most effective layout, navigation and information architecture to accommodate the Society's key target market.

Jadu was selected for the ambitious programme of redevelopment to create a strong and inclusive online brand presence that provides users with the best experience and clarity of messages.

The website deploys cookies to ensure that site preferences and specific user information is retained, making the site navigation centric and more personal.

The Alzheimer's Society website is also clearly signposted to help the user find where they are and where they have been within the site. Jadu's technology also enables users to find local services, thanks to integration with the Society's back office database.

Said Dajani, website manager at the Alzheimer's Society, says, "We recognise the increase in demand for online information and want to encourage greater public understanding of dementia, as well as engage with our volunteers and staff using the same platform.

The new content management system from Jadu gives us the opportunity to quickly develop new projects whilst making sure that our website is accessible."

Lee Pilmore, Head of User Experience at Jadu, explains, "Brand clarity, accessible design and clear navigation are the keys to the success of the Alzheimer's Society's vision and it's a pleasure to be working with an organisation that has shown such commitment in understanding their audience and delivering new levels of accessibility and online service."

The first phase of the online infrastructure programme included moving the Alzheimer's Society intranet to Jadu Intranet 2.0, creating a payments system for receiving donations online and integrating with a back office database. The second phase of activity will tackle CRM integration and begin the process of rolling out local websites using Jadu Galaxies.

The Alzheimer's Society provides services, information, guidance and help through its network of 25,000 members across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers, won disability charity of the year at the 2007 Charity Awards in recognition of its campaign to drive the issue of dementia up the public and political agenda.
